Covid-19: Niger State Police decongests Cells

The Nigerian police in Niger State has ordered the immediate de-congestion of cells across its various divisions, as part of its role in the fight against the spread of Covid -19 pandemic.

The  Commissioner of Police in the State, Alhaji Adamu Usman, mentioned this through the  Command’s  Public Relations Officer, ASP Wasiu Abiondun,  in Minna.

He explained that the order was  a preventive measure to de-congest various police Cells, and to ensure safety .

The Niger State Government on Thursday, has relaxed   the earlier Ten Hours curfew  enforcement  from 8:00am to 8:00Pm,  to Eight Hours which is 10:00 am to 8:00 am  daily,until the situations improves.

The Commissioner of Police  urged  members of the public to abstain to be law abiding so as to avoid crime charges by law enforcement officers.

He mentioned that the  decision to de-congest police Cells in the State, was directives by the Inspector General of Police Mohammed Adamu, to all police Command in the Country,  in its efforts in partaking to control  the on going   spread of  covid-19.

“The command has rolled out medical teams to police barracks/formations and detention facilities for awareness/safety towards containment,” he said.

Police Commissioner,  Adamu Usman , however solicited for the cooperation of citizens of the State to always abide by  medical instructions  on combating the ongoing  spread of  covid-19 across the State.
