COVID-19: Schools comply with 30-day closure in Kaduna

Public and private schools in Kaduna metropolis have complied with the 30-day closure as directed by the Kaduna State Government, as part of measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

While monitoring compliance in Kaduna metropolis, our Correspondent reports that most of the schools were under lock and key, including Islamiya schools.

In some of the schools visited, teachers and security personnel were seen sending children who came to school home.

It could be recalled that, the State Ministry of Education had on March 20, directed that all tertiary institutions, public and private schools be closed down as part of efforts to contain the spread of the dreaded virus in the State.

The Commissioner for Education, Dr Shehu Makarfi had in the circular, urged parents to watch over their children closely and ensure they practice high level of personal hygiene, especially regular hand washing.

Makarfi also advised that children should stay at home where necessary and avoid overcrowded gatherings and any activity that may put their health and others at risk.
