COVID-19 sensitisation: Red Cross commends members, volunteers

Kwara state Branch of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, has commended volunteers and members of the group world-wide for providing a lifeline to countless communities during this COVID-19 pandemic.

The Chairman of the Branch, Professor Adbul-raheem Issa Adebayo, gave the commendation while commemorating this year’s World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day.

The World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day is an annual programme to commemorate the birth of its Founder, Sir Gean Henry Dunat, born on the 8th of May 1828.

Professor Adebayo said the group is embarking on public sensitisation to educate the public on the devastating nature of the deadly virus.

Professor Adebayo appreciated members and volunteers for working tirelessly to reach out to people in need to alleviate their sufferings.

He, therefore, appealed to the people to adhere strictly to all the preventive measures as directed by the state government and Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.

This year’s World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day comes as volunteers around the world respond to the outbreak of corona virus that has affected the entire world.
