Ahead of the September 21st governorship election in Edo State, the Coalition of Registered Political Parties, CRPP has endorsed the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP candidate, Asue Ighodalo.
CRPP State Chairman, Dr Samson Isibor made the announcement at a meeting attended by state and local government executives in Benin.
Isibor noted that Edo residents could no longer afford basic necessities due to the high cost of living, exacerbated by harsh economic policies.
He expressed confidence in Ighodalo’s ability to fulfill his campaign promises and address the state’s challenges, including insecurity, high fuel costs, and electricity shortages.
The CRPP chairman urged supporters to campaign vigorously for Ighodalo and ensure their votes count.
He appealed to contestants to focus on issue-based campaigns, avoiding calumny and mudslinging.
Isibor also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to remain impartial and provide a level playing field for all parties.
He charged security agenci
es to discharge their duties professionally, without taking sides.
