Post: Dangote Group Emphasizes Importance of Domestic Production at Abuja Trade Fair


Abuja:The Dangote Group has highlighted the essential role of domestic production in bolstering Nigeria’s economic resilience. This announcement was made by Mr. Abdullahi Danmusa, the Group General Manager, during the Dangote Special Day at the ongoing Abuja International Trade Fair.



According to News Agency of Nigeria, Danmusa, representing Fatima Wali-Abdurrahman, the Regional Director/Senior Adviser to the Dangote Group President/CE, emphasized the significance of taxation in national development. He noted that the Dangote Group is committed to fulfilling its tax obligations, contributing significantly to government revenues, and supporting employment and enterprise throughout its operations.



Danmusa stated that trade achieves a greater economic impact when supported by robust domestic productive capacity. He highlighted the dangers of over-reliance on imports for goods that can be produced competitively within the country. The Dangote Group’s investments in sectors such as cement, sugar, salt, seasoning, packaging, fertilizer, petrochemicals, and petroleum refining underscore its commitment to enhancing Nigeria’s industrial capacity.



Furthermore, he pointed out that domestic manufacturing capacity is crucial for deepening economic activity, creating jobs, supporting local enterprises, and reducing reliance on imported products. These investments reflect the Group’s dedication to supporting Nigeria’s industrialization and developing a resilient economy.



Prof. Adebisi Adesugba, the First Deputy President of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), also praised Dangote Industries for its contributions to Nigeria’s economic development. He acknowledged the long-standing partnership between Dangote and the Chamber, highlighting the role of responsible corporate participation in promoting commerce, investment, and entrepreneurship both in Nigeria and across Africa.



Adesugba commended Dangote’s strategic investments in sectors like cement, fertilizer, agriculture, refining, and petrochemicals for their role in strengthening domestic productive capacity, generating employment opportunities, reducing import reliance, and supporting foreign exchange generation. He emphasized the partnership with Dangote as vital for creating opportunities for businesses and entrepreneurs, thereby advancing sustainable economic development.



The Dangote Special Day at the trade fair gathered business leaders, government officials, investors, exhibitors, entrepreneurs, and other stakeholders to discuss issues related to taxation, trade, industrialization, investment, domestic production, and Nigeria’s economic prospects.
