Kano: The Dangote Group has announced its participation in the Kano International Trade Fair, which is set to take place between Saturday and December 6. The company will not only sponsor the event but will also be actively involved in this annual gathering, which is expected to draw more than a thousand exhibitors from across the globe.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the Group Chief Branding and Communication Officer, Anthony Chiejina, emphasized the strategic importance of Kano to the company’s operations. Describing Kano as a major commercial hub in Africa, Chiejina highlighted that it hosts one of the large-scale rice mills under development by the company. The company is also developing rice milling plants in Jigawa, Zamfara, Niger, Kebbi, and Sokoto States, with a total milling capacity of 1.5 million tonnes per year. This initiative aligns with the government’s food security objectives.
The company plans to establish special help desks at the trade fair to encourage public engagement for potential business partnerships. In line with market demands, Dangote Group will introduce new sugar pack sizes of 100 grams and 25 kilograms on its designated Special Day at the Fair. The theme for this year’s fair, “Empowering SMEs for Sustainable Growth,” aligns with the company’s commitment to sustainable development in Nigeria. Fatima Wali-Abdurrahman, Senior Adviser for Special Project and Strategic Relations to the Dangote Group President, stated that the company aims to empower small and medium enterprises through opportunities at the fair.
Ambassador Hassan Darma, President of the Kano Chamber of Commerce Industry Mines and Agriculture (KACCIMA), noted that the fair is expected to feature around 100 organizations and over 1,000 exhibitors both locally and internationally. He remarked on the enhancements and expansions made to the fair site, which contribute to this year’s unique event. Darma acknowledged the Dangote Group as a key sponsor and expressed the Chamber’s intention to collaborate with the company on SME development, backward integration, and industrial skills transfer.
