Post: Defection Hits PDP in Oyo as Hundreds Join APC

Abuja: Hundreds of members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The defection was facilitated by Rep. Aderemi Oseni, the lawmaker representing Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, through his political platform, the Remi Oseni Committee of Friends (ROCOF).

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Oseni, who also serves as the Chairman of the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA), described the mass defection as ‘unprecedented in the history of Ido Local Government.’ He emphasized the significant number of defections, stating that over 1,500 members of the PDP in Ido Local Government have joined the Remi Oseni Committee of Friends within the APC. Oseni attributed this shift to divine intervention and expressed anticipation for more defections in the future.

Oseni highlighted the strategic plan to expand the movement by reaching out to other local governments, aiming to welcome more PDP members and others willing to join the APC through the ROCOF movement. He stressed that the ultimate goal of this effort was to ensure the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027. Oseni vowed dedication to this cause, aiming for a successful political future for Tinubu.

The defectors, led by Chief Nureni Adeoye, identified themselves as ‘returnees,’ citing long-standing connections with Oseni. They praised the lawmaker’s developmental initiatives and acknowledged him as a ‘record breaker’ in the political landscape.
