Delta Government Revives N15,000 Monthly Stipends for Widows

Asaba: The Delta government has announced the revival of its N15,000 monthly stipends to widows under the State’s Widows Welfare Scheme. The scheme aims to support vulnerable women across all 270 wards in the state.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, the coordinator of the scheme, Isioma Okonta, informed newsmen in Asaba that beneficiaries began receiving their payments on Thursday. Each widow received a lump sum of N45,000, covering the months of August to October, as part of the state’s ongoing efforts to alleviate economic pressures on vulnerable populations.

Okonta highlighted that the scheme is a central component of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s socio-economic policy, designed to assist those facing hardship. He emphasized that the initiative goes beyond financial aid, aiming to restore dignity and provide hope to widows, ensuring they feel remembered and supported.

Since its inception, the Widows Welfare Scheme has positively impacted thousands of widows across Delta State, offering them a consistent financial lifeline and easing their daily survival challenges.
