Ebonyi School Inducts 90 Veterinary Para-Professionals


Ezzamgbo ohaukwu: No fewer than 90 veterinary para-professional graduates of Ebonyi Veterinary School were enrolled into the animal health industry during an induction and oath-taking ceremony. Dr. Fadipe Oladotun, Acting Registrar of the Veterinary Council of Nigeria (VCN), emphasized the importance of teamwork among the new inductees.



According to News Agency of Nigeria, Dr. Oladotun highlighted the collective effort required in veterinary care, focusing on disease control, patient care, and food safety, all crucial for animal and public health. He stated that the newly inducted para-professionals would assist in various roles, including technicians, disease surveillance, vaccinations, and preventative care.



Dr. Oladotun also expressed the readiness of veterinarians to collaborate with related sectors in the animal health industry. He stressed the need for recruiting more veterinarians to control high-impact diseases, ensure the safety of animal products, and respond to emergencies. Additionally, he called for improved remuneration and working conditions for veterinary professionals to enhance their motivation and participation in the livestock sector.



Mr. Michael Nwokporo, Director of Veterinary Services, praised the school’s management and staff for overcoming challenges and encouraged the inductees to develop a professional attitude by making timely referrals for cases beyond their expertise. He advised them to adhere to professional conduct and avoid under and over-medications to combat antimicrobial resistance.



Dr. Gloria Magaji, Chairperson of the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association in the state, congratulated the graduates and urged them to contribute to animal health in their communities. The school’s principal, Dr. Augustine Igwe, called for commitment and discipline from the new officers. Representing the inductees, Mr. Dennis Nwibo affirmed their dedication to ethical and professional standards.



The News Agency of Nigeria reported that the event concluded with the presentation of certificates to the newly inducted officers.
