Ebonyi State: Governor Umahi imposes 24-hour curfew

Ebonyi State Government Southeast Nigeria has imposed twenty-four hours curfew in the State with immediate effect.

This was contained in the State live broadcast by the State Governor, Engineer David Umahi in Abakaliki, the State capital.

Governor Umahi Said the curfew became necessary following the level of destruction of lives and properties, which include burning of Police Stations and making headway to prison to set prisoners free.

“Theses  imported hoodlums and Cultists has destroyed  a lot of properties belonging to government and Individuals”. He added.

He said the EndSARS protest has been hijacked by Cultists which majority of them are from another state.

The Governor  directed that all fuel stations in the state should be closed down indefinitely.

He also directed that all land boarders should remain closed.

Governor Umahi decried on how some hoodlums and Cultists shifted from other states are hiding under the endSARS protest to commit heinous crimes.

He however condoled with the families whose loved ones were killed in the protest.

“I commiserate with the families who lost their family members in the process”. He decried.

It would be recalled that EndSARS protesters had on Monday 19th October 2020 enlisted their demands which the state Governor said he has met up with the demands,  ranging from setting up a Judicial Panel of Enquiry to investigate their allegations and demands.
