Post: Ecobank Opens ‘The Convergence’ Exhibition to Support African Creatives

Lagos:Ecobank, in collaboration with AD Consulting, has launched ‘The Convergence’ exhibition in Lagos, emphasizing its dedication to bolstering African creative talents and initiatives that celebrate the continent’s cultural and intellectual heritage.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, the exhibition will run from October 2 to October 7, allowing a wider audience to engage with the showcased works and the ideas behind ‘The Convergence’.

Mr. Austen Osokpor, Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications at Ecobank Nigeria, stated that the exhibition merges art and architecture to narrate African stories and enhance the visibility of creative talents. He emphasized Ecobank’s belief in Africa’s wealth extending beyond financial capital to include cultural and creative assets.

Ecobank’s partnership with AD Consulting aims to present a unique perspective on the African narrative through art and architecture, aligning with its Pan-African vision of nurturing African culture and fostering development.

Olajumoke Adenowo, architect and founder of AD Consulting, explained that the Convergence is inspired by her New Heritage philosophy, which integrates architecture, art, and African heritage. She urged collectors and affluent individuals to support creative talents, thus creating lasting legacies.

Exhibiting artist Emmanuel Oyeleke highlighted the exhibition as an opportunity to document Nigerian architecture and share the New Heritage movement’s ideas. Joshua Nmesirionye and Duke Asidere, also participating artists, used their works to address themes like daily experiences and security concerns in Nigeria.
