Nyaya: The Zephyrgold Aid Foundation, on Wednesday, distributed over 2,000 books and stationery to pupils of the Junior Secondary School (JSS) in Nyaya, FCT. The foundation stated that the gesture is aimed at improving learning outcomes in the community.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, speaking during the outreach, leader of the team, Mr. Mathew Ajiboye, mentioned that the initiative is part of the organisation’s commitment to promoting quality education in Nigeria. He emphasized that the foundation is established to impact lives, with a central focus on supporting students with the tools and motivation required to excel in academics. Mr. Ajiboye stressed that education is crucial for building a safe nation, as students empowered with the right materials and mindset are better positioned to achieve their goals.
He explained that the outreach targeted students in the junior secondary school, with 2,000 books distributed to students in JSS one, while writing materials were provided to those in JSS two. He urged the students to remain focused and maintain a clear vision for their future, highlighting that hard work and determination are essential tools for success. Mr. Ajiboye reaffirmed the foundation’s commitment to sustaining such interventions to benefit more students.
The Principal of the school, Mr. Damian Ekeugbo, also commended the foundation for its recent educational initiative at the school. He described the initiative as timely support that had significantly impacted students, terming the intervention as ‘help from above’ for learners in need. Mr. Ekeugbo noted that educating children prevents them from being easily deceived or misled, and highlighted the role of teachers as non-kinetic security agents in shaping students’ thinking and helping them resist misinformation.
Furthermore, Mr. Ekeugbo pointed out some recurring challenges hindering effective teaching and learning in schools, citing inadequate chairs as a significant issue. He appealed for additional support in the areas of chairs and resources to meet the needs of the growing number of students.
