The Nigerian Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, has donated 60 bags of rice, 60 cartoons of vegetable oil and twelve cows to twelve selected welfare associations within the FCT towards the celebration of Eid-al-Fitr festival.
Representatives of the group were given five 50kg bags of rice and five packs of groundnut oil and one cow each for distribution to their members.
Those who benefited from the gesture included, School for the handicapped Kuje, School for the blind Jabi, School for the deaf Kuje, Leppers Colony, Motherless baby home, FCT Para Soccer team, Unity Orphanage Bwari and Community based Vocational Rehabilitation center Old Karu.
Others were Community based vocational based Rehabilitation center Zuba, Blind person Karon Majiji, Vocational Rehabilitation center Kuje, Karon Majiji Disabled Rehabilitation Community.
While presenting the items to the beneficiaries on behalf of the administration, the Chief of Protocols, Malam Sani Daura said it was a routine gesture by the administration in assisting the less privileged at a time such as this to enable them celebrate the festival with other member of the society.
The Chief Protocols who was represented by the Head of Admin in the office, Mr Terfa Agor enjoined the representatives to distribute the items in a transparent manner.
Daura, called on the groupd,
especially the Muslims, to pray for peace and unity amongst residents of the
FCT and the nation at large as they celebrate Eid-el fitr.
Daura who further reminded them of the obligation to work and pray for the unity and indivisibility of the country. He also called on them to pray for an end to the Coronavirus pandemic that is ravaging the country and the world in general.
Sani Daura admonished the groups to use the occasion to meditate and give expression to the teachings and lifestyle of Prophet Muhammad, SAW, and to pray for the administration.
Speaking on behalf of the group, the Principal School for the blind Kuje, Comrade Abdulrazaq Surajo who expressed the group’s appreciation for the items prayed that items given to them should be a kind of sacrifice that would bring an end to Coronavirus pandemic in the whole world.
While stressing that the Coronavirus had caused severed hardship to most of their members, Comrade Sani thanked the FCT administration for providing them with palliative that would cushion the economic hardship faced by the vulnerable as a results of the pandemic.
”We want to say a very big thank you to you, the FCT administration, the Minister and the team that all came together believing in us.
“The goods you brought today we will ensure that they are distributed across all the members of this group.
“This will go a long way in assisting us to celebrate the eid-el Fitr and would also help in cushioning the economy hardship faced by our members as results of the sit at home COVID-19 global pandemic“.
Sani Daura called on other well-meaning Nigrians to follow suite in reaching out to the less privileged in the society in a time like this to alleviate their plight.
