Elections: Borno PDP Gubernatorial candidate promises transparency

The Gubernatorial Candidate of the People's Democratic Party PDP in Borno, Muhammed Imam has promised to run a transparent government if elected into office.

Imam stated this in an interview with Voice of Nigeria in Borno State, North East Nigeria.

He noted that his desire to contest in the gubernatorial race is as a result of self-commitment to salvage my people from the current hardship we all find ourselves in.

The aspiration to run for the governorship seat actually came from my people, knowing that I served them in various capacities in the state, he explained.

The Gubernatorial Candidate stated that he is qualified to run for the office as he has been in the system for a while. ''I was the chairman of the defunct ANPP, former chairman of Maiduguri Metropolitan council MMC; I served as the commissioner of education as well as commissioner for water resource. All the various positioned I held I made sure left a footprint''.

''When I was the commissioner for education the state hasn't employed any teachers for almost a decade, but when I came employed 1000 school teachers till date there wasn't any employment. As the commissioner for water resource I made sure we had a capacity of 40million water treatment plant in the state''.

IDPs Care

On the issue of IDPS, Mr, Imam vowed that ''if I'm elected as the governor of Borno state I will end the issue of IDPs in Borno within 6 months. We have over 55000 children rooming about the streets in the state capital, an estimated number of widows to be 66000, we can't be keeping them like that we will make provision and returned them all IDPs must be returned if you look at Yobe , Gombe, Adamawa you will hardly find IDPs camp why should we have a number of IDP camps here in Borno,is all lack of political will''
