Post: Enterprise Content Management Boosts Efficiency in Housing Ministry

Abuja:The Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Yusuf Ata, announced that the implementation of the Enterprise Content Management (ECM) System has significantly enhanced efficiency and transparency within the ministry. This statement was made during the first anniversary celebration of the ECM System and the launch of the ministry’s Performance Management System (PMS).

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, Ata emphasized that the occasion was not just about marking one year of the ECM System but also about acknowledging the ministry’s dedication to transforming information management. The ECM has improved access to information, reduced reliance on physical documents, enhanced records management, and facilitated faster workflows.

Ata highlighted that the ECM system has been instrumental in moving towards a more digitally-enabled public service, aligning with the Federal Government of Nigeria’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He praised the ministry’s management, staff, ICT Department, technical team, and other stakeholders for their efforts over the past year and encouraged continued adoption and capacity building for both the ECM and the new Performance Management System.

Dr. Danjuma Kalba, representing the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, congratulated the ministry on its achievements. Kalba remarked that the ECM initiative showcases successful leadership, institutional ownership, and innovation, all contributing to a significant transformation in government operations.

Permanent Secretary of FMHUD, Dr. Shuaib Belgore, noted that the ministry fully implemented the ECM on September 30, 2025, after a pilot phase. This shift towards digital processes has led to annual savings of over N400 million by reducing stationery costs. The ministry has also distributed more than 90 desktop computers and 30 laptops to support this transition.

Dr. Amiolemen Osagie, Head of the ICT Department, reported that 1,200 staff members have been integrated into the ECM platform. The system has digitized over 6,018 legacy files, improving document accessibility, retrieval, and security. The anniversary event also included awards for departments and staff members excelling in the use of the ECM platform.
