Post: Ethiopian PM Announces Implementation of Major Projects


Addis ababa: Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has declared that the year 2019 under the Ethiopian calendar, corresponding to 2026-2027 in the Gregorian calendar, will witness the practical implementation of significant government projects.



According to News Agency of Nigeria, Abiy Ahmed announced seven major projects aimed at accelerating Ethiopia’s development. These projects include the establishment of a nuclear energy development facility, two gas plants, an oil refinery, Africa’s largest airport, and a fertiliser production facility. Additionally, the construction of 1.5 million homes across the country is part of these initiatives.



The ambitious projects are slated for completion within five to six years. In a speech marking the Ethiopian New Year on 11 September, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of transitioning from statements to practical actions and the execution of these planned projects. He highlighted the goals of increasing production volumes, enhancing the quality of the economy, and strengthening Ethiopia’s role on the African continent as essential priorities.
