Expert advocates policy framework to end security challenges

Security experts have advocated a paradigm shift in the Country’s Security frame work to tackle the numerous security challenges confronting the Nation.

Professor Ibrahim Ado Abubakar, a Nuclear Scientist, stated this in a presentation at a one day interactive session on security organised by the House Committee on National Security.

Professor Ibrahim said Nigeria lacks productive manpower in security that can be utilised to generate more revenue to the country than oil sector.

Nigeria is supposed to be generating about fifty to hundred trillion Naira today from security alone, but instead of generating we are spending trillions of Naira on security. He argued.

Professor Ibrahim however suggested paradigm shift in terms of creating awareness among the citizens to contribute positively to the security of citizens and the country.

We don’t need to go and work on the brain or human intelligence, human intelligence have gone. You cannot work on human intelligence now to fight crimes. He added.

The interactive session with the theme Security Challenges and Engineering Application in National Development was to share ideas on improving National Security especially during the coming general election.
