Abuja:The Federal Government of Nigeria plans to distribute 400,000 digital devices to young Nigerians, students, artisans, entrepreneurs, and vulnerable groups across the nation. This initiative aims to enhance access to digital skills, vocational training, and entrepreneurship opportunities.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Dr. Abiola Arogundade, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Technical, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Education, revealed this information during a meeting in Abuja. The initiative, part of the National Digital Skills and Technical Empowerment Programme, seeks to bridge the gap for millions who possess skills but lack the necessary digital tools.
The programme will take digital devices and skills training to various states, promoting participation in the digital and entrepreneurship economy. Tablets were presented to 70 digital media personnel, emphasizing the media’s role in ensuring government programmes reach communities and potential beneficiaries.
Arogundade highlighted the importance of empowering media personnel, encouraging them to use their tablets to amplify government programmes and connect people with opportunities. Additionally, she called for thorough media coverage of the NPRGS Oyo State phase from September 28 to October 9, which will provide vocational training in fashion design, artificial intelligence, graphics, and makeup.
The initiative underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to empowering citizens by expanding access to vocational skills, digital tools, and entrepreneurship opportunities across Nigeria.
