Post: FG Conducts Pilot Computer-Based Test for Technical Colleges Admission

Abuja: The Federal Government has conducted a pilot Computer-Based Test (CBT) for the 2026 National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE), aimed at facilitating admission into Federal and State Technical Colleges across the nation. This initiative was coordinated by the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) and took place at various designated centers.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, the examination centers in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) included the Federal Technical College, Orozo, and Government Secondary School, Garki, Abuja. Dr. Tunji Alausa, the Minister of Education, was represented by Mrs. Patricia Ogungbemi, the Director of Technology and Science Education, who monitored the exercise in the FCT. Alausa praised the candidates for their participation and urged them to embrace technical and vocational education.

The minister emphasized that the exercise is a pathway to self-reliance, innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable employment. He highlighted that graduates from technical colleges would gain practical and industry-relevant skills, enhancing their employability and contributing to national economic development. The federal government, he noted, remains dedicated to promoting technical education through various policies and initiatives aimed at job creation and youth empowerment.

Alausa mentioned that a pilot CBT session was conducted immediately after the conventional examination. This was part of efforts to assess readiness for a potential future transition to a fully computer-based examination system. The initiative aligns with government efforts to advance digital transformation in the education sector and improve the credibility and efficiency of examination administration.

He further added that the successful conduct of both the conventional examination and the pilot CBT underscores the government’s commitment to quality technical education and the integration of technology into learning and evaluation processes.
