Post: FG’s Security Plan to Curb Terrorism Lauded by Tinubu Media Volunteers

Abuja: The Tinubu Media Volunteers (TMV) have praised the new security measures announced by President Bola Tinubu, expressing confidence that these steps will decisively tackle Nigeria’s ongoing security challenges.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, in a statement released on Tuesday in Abuja, TMV Chairman Chukwudi Enekwechi and Secretary Segun Ogedengbe described the measures as a substantial move towards restructuring the nation’s security framework. The TMV highlighted the President’s prompt reaction to recent terrorist incidents, such as those at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Papiri, Niger, and Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi, as a testament to his decisive leadership.

The group commended President Tinubu for his personal involvement in the rescue operations of the abducted Kebbi schoolgirls, underscoring his proactive approach to national security issues. TMV also expressed approval of the President’s directive for the Army and Police to recruit additional personnel to bolster the fight against terrorism, emphasizing the necessity of a well-equipped security force.

Furthermore, TMV supported the directive for the Department of State Services (DSS) to deploy forest guards to eliminate terrorists hiding in the nation’s forests. Enekwechi praised the President for urging the National Assembly to empower states willing to establish state police, citing this move as a means to fortify localized security and improve law enforcement efficiency.

Additionally, the group welcomed the call for herders’ associations to adopt ranching via the Ministry of Livestock Development, seeing it as a sustainable alternative to open grazing that could help reduce conflicts. TMV concluded that these measures, if implemented faithfully, would significantly contribute to addressing insecurity across Nigeria.
