Akure: A reputable European sportswear manufacturer, Fodox Sports, has officially signed a five-year kits partnership deal with the Ondo State Football Agency (ODSFA), which oversees the Sunshine Stars, Queens, and Stars’ U-19 football teams.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo, represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Segun Omoyofunmi, stated that the agreement would establish a new benchmark for sports branding and development in the state. The governor emphasized that the partnership aims to promote excellence both on and off the pitch in the coming seasons.
The governor also called on the agency’s management to prioritize victory as their guiding principle over the next five seasons for all teams under ODSFA’s jurisdiction. Mr. Divine Ogbonnaya, Chairman of ODSFA, praised the partnership as a significant step forward for football development in Ondo State, marking a new era of professionalism.
Ogbonnaya expressed gratitude to Gov. Aiyedatiwa for his consistent support of sports development, especially football. He credited the progress made under the current administration to the governor’s visionary leadership, alongside the cooperation of stakeholders and the dedication of the players and staff.
Mr. Adrovic Senad, Director of Fodox Sportswear, expressed his enthusiasm about the collaboration, noting that it represents the company’s first-ever long-term kits deal with a Nigerian team. Senad highlighted Sunshine Stars’ rich history and growing reputation, which made the partnership appealing to Fodox Sports.
Mr. Segun Giwa, Chairman of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Ondo State Chapter, described the deal as a significant morale booster for football development in the region. Furthermore, Mr. Kehinde Akinrotoye, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Sports, stated that the agreement would serve as a strong motivational factor for all teams under ODSFA.
Fodox Sports is renowned for producing sports apparel, including jerseys, shorts, football boots, and equipment, with a presence across Europe and other continents.
