The Gombe State Committee on palliatives has begun the distribution of food items across the State.
The Chairman of committee and Emir of Gombe, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III, said arrangement had been made for the equitable distribution of the items, targeted to reach the real vulnerable persons in the society.
Alhaji Abubakar said 30 vulnerable persons had been targeted from each polling unit in the state, including orphans, widows and physically challenged among others.
He listed the items include rice, maize, Millet, sugar, spaghetti, cooking oil and salt.
Representing Governor Muhammadu Yahaya, the Gombe State Deputy Governor, Dr. Manassah Jatau, said the items were made up of donations received from the Federal Government and Northeast Development Commission, as well as items provided by the Gombe State Government.
Dr. Jatau said the pandemic had affected great powers of the World as such, there was so much need for the palliatives to the people.
He said he had confidence in the committee, led by the Emir of Gombe, to do justice in the distribution.
The Gombe State Deputy Governor called on the beneficiaries to be magnanimous in sharing the items with their neighbours, since the President, Governor, Committee chairman were magnanimous in reaching the people with the palliatives,
Adhere to Preventive Measures
He equally called on the people to adhere to all preventive measures as instructed by authorities, as well as report anybody identified with the symptoms of covid-19 to the task force.
The Secretary and Overseer of Shongom LGA, Mr. Abubakar Adamu Kaltungo, appreciated Governor Yahaya’s Government for prioritizing the welfare of the people, especially the vulnerable in the society.
He appreciated that the flagg-off was taking place in Shongom, while praying that the distribution would start and end successfully.
