Gombe to establish Bureau of Public Service Reforms

Governor Muhammadu Yahaya has announced that his administration will soon establish a Bureau of Public Service Reforms, to foster efficiency and enhance quality and result-oriented service.

Governor Yahaya said this while hosting a delegation from the Bureau of Public service Reforms, led by its Director General, Dasuki Ibrahim Arabi at the Government House.

He said his administration has since keyed into the Nigerian Government’s reform programmes and such would be cascaded to the local government level.

The Governor said; an Executive Order has already been issued for the establishment of the Bureau in the state, which would be headed by a seasoned technocrat.

He said the state was currently battling with paucity of funds and that it was imperative to initiate reforms that would entrench prudence, accountability and transparency in governance.

The Director General of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms, Dasuki Arabi had told the Governor that his agency was established to facilitate the building of Nigeria’s public service into a highly functional, professional, customer focused and results oriented institution.

Mr Arabi said initiatives such as Intergrated Payroll and Personnel Information System, IPPIS and Treasury Single Account are among numerous reforms brought by government and have since proven beneficial and some states have keyed into it.

While praising Governor Yahaya for his dynamic style of leadership and disposition towards change and reforms, the Director General said the state stands to gain a lot with a bureau of public service reform in place.

He assured the government of his agency’s support to facilitate smooth take off of the reform.
