Ekwulobia (Aguata LGA)-Wife of Anambra State Governor, Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano has called on youths to diversify their economic base, for more sustainable contribution toward growth and development of their society.

Mrs Obiano made the call during her routine tour of Aguata Local Government Area (LGA) to extend succour to the less privileged and vulnerable in the state.

According to Mrs Obiano, popularly known as Osodieme’, you can queue into skills acquisition initiative of her Non-Governmental Organisation, the Caring Family Enhancement (CAFA) to develop their talents.

She explained that as students awaiting result and school leavers searching for jobs, CAFA could help to develop their other skills.

Skills acquisition is knowledge acquired that you can use the knowledge to keep yourself going, while still searching for jobs.

If the job comes, fine, if it does not, your business can be developed to a point where you earn enough to be able be paying others, while shunning paid jobs.

You can continue your business with paid jobs too and still make money from both ends,” she said.

She urged women to register in the Anambra Health Insurance Scheme introduced by the State Government, so as to enjoy better healthcare.

Mrs Obiano noted that the programme would not take much; with just a token of N1, 000 per month and N12, 000 annually, you would receive quality healthcare.

She pleaded with affluent Ndi Anambra to support the initiative, so as to accommodate more people in the scheme.

Earlier in her address, Wife of Transition Committee Chairman, Mrs Enuma Ezeibe commended CAFA programmes cited by wife of the Governor as relief for the down trodden in the society.

It is not about Ndi Anambra alone, even destitute from neighbouring states have been picked up from the streets, rehabilitated and reunited with their families.

Mrs Obiano has built houses for indigent widows, extended scholarships to poor student in the state,” she said.

The governor’s wife later disbursed cash gifts along with essential items like cartons of noodles, detergents, bags of rice to the less privilege during the event.

Commissioner for Women Affairs, Lady Ndidi Mezue and that of Public Utilities, Mr Emeka Ezenwanne were among top Government functionaries at the event.

Others are Member House of Assembly representing Aguata 1and 2 Constituencies, Chief Nnamdi Umeh and Dr Okechukwu Okoye.
