LAGOS An Indication emerged at the weekend that the former Commissioner of Police, Edo State, CP Hakeem Olusegun Odumosu, may have been selected as the next Police boss for Lagos State Command.
He is to take over from the newly promoted Assistant Inspector General Of Police, AIG Zubairu Muazu, who has been at the helm of affairs in Lagos, after CP Edgal Imohimi.
It would be recalled that the Police Service Commission (PSC), recently was said to have promoted seven commissioners of police CPs to the rank of AIG.
Among the CPs said to have been promoted, are Lagos State CP, Zubairu, Edo State Danmallam Mohammed and Kano State Ahmed Iliyasu.
A reliable Police source at the Force Secretary Office, Force Headquarters who hinted our correspondent, explained that the Police authority at Lewis Edet House Abuja had deliberated between appointing CP Galadashi Dasuki and Odumosu, but CP Hakeem Odumosu was finally picked.
Though, the signal for the posting, had yet to be released, our authoritative source however noted that the visit of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Adamu Mohammed to Lagos, for the three day Security Conference starting October 28th, 2019 , maybe a perfect time for the announcement, as AIG Zubairo Muazu and others that scaled through the promotion hurdles, are expected to be decorated with their new ranks.
CP Odumosu who is from Lagos, it was further gathered, has been ‘floating’ without a proper posting in the last six months, after his Edo State assignment.
He is believed in many quarters to be an anointed son of Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Oba Akiolu of Lagos.
Hakeem Odumosu, was the Chairman, Lagos State Task Force on Environment and Miscellaneous Offences during the Administration of Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Lagos state.
He was later the Commanding Officer of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), during the reign of Governor Raji Babatunde Fashola as governor of Lagos state.
He was subsequently promoted as Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP and redeployed to Akwanga, Nassarawa State as Area Commander. Odumosu rose in ranks and became a CP.
