The Hydro Electric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC) says it will continue to prioritise the wellbeing of staff for better service delivery.
Alhaji Abubakar Yelwa, Managing Director HYPPADEC, made this known in a statement by Nura Wakil, the Head of Press Affairs of the commission on Saturday in Minna.
He said that the wellbeing of the staff was important to the commission’s objectives of having an efficient, effective and dedicated workforce to serve Nigerians.
Yelwa, who was speaking during an inaugural road walk, said that the exercise would be a monthly aspect of the commission to be held every last Friday of the month.
He explained that the exercise would also be held simultaneously in all the state offices of the commission.
Yelwa said that aside the health benefits, the physical fitness would encourage camaraderie among staff and management, adding that a fit mind is an active mind.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the commission had earlier held an intensive health week where staff were given health talks, consultations, minor surgeries as well as drugs.
A staff, Lilian Aguku, in an interview said that she feel energetic after the exercise and called for the sustainability of the exercise in order to curtail health complications.
Another worker, Buhari Mukail, appreciated the commission’s management for the foresight, urging it to make it mandatory for all staff.
The two kilometres road walk started from the HYPPADEC headquarters to the David Mark road roundabout and back.
The Managing Director, management staff and workers of the commission at the headquarters participated in the two kilometres walk.
