Awka-Anambra State Head of Service (HOS), Barr Harry Udu, has extolled a Non-Governmental Organisation, Centre for Social Awareness Advocacy and Ethics (CSAAE) over its various youth-oriented intervention programmes.
The HOS said he was elated that the group offered to train and mentor youths from the state during the forthcoming programme, scheduled to hold in Awka, the state capital.
Udu made this remarks while receiving the founder of the group, Rev. Fr. Godswill Abagwa during his courtesy call at his office at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat Complex, Awka.
He praised plans and programmes of the group, describing it as apt and much needed programme for the intervention and rescue of the Nigerian youth.
Youthfulness at this time comes along with lots of negative and overwhelming influence, which comes with strong desire to launch self to the top, at all cost and through whatever means possible.
But with such orientation programme as designed by you, several Anambra youths as well as others will be pointed toward the right track once again,” the HOS said.
While commending the group for giving life back to the down trodden, Udu urged them to sustain the programme, which could be a veritable platform to enable the youths to maximise their potential.
The civil service boss, then, thanked the group for conceiving such laudable programme and bringing same down to Anambra, where it would benefit the service and the public at large.
Earlier, the founder, Fr. Abagwa, thanked the Head of service for endorsing the initiative.
He noted that since the establishment of the group in 2013, it had remained committed to youth mentorship and empowerment in several other states in the country.
Anambra is one state that is of great interest to us because it abounds with great talents and gifted persons that need to be well guided to harness the gifts and reap the benefits,” Fr. Abagwa said.
He emphasised the need to bridge the gap between the older generation and the younger ones to produce better role models and mentors in fulfillment of one of its objectives.
He, then, used the opportunity to invite the HOS to the programme as one of the speakers and mentors at the event, scheduled to hold at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Hall, Awka.
In a remark, Director of Training, Office of the HOS, Dr Nwando Obiano, thanked the visitors and re-assured them of cooperation.
Present at the event are Director, Public Service Office (PSO), Mr Adebayo Ojeyinka, Heads of Departments and some members of the group.
