The House of Representatives says it will continue to honor Nigerians, in line with its legislative agenda, for their exemplary and selfless service.
Speaker of the House, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila made the remark while presenting a Parliamentary Commendation to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Abba Kyari, for his commitment to preserving the lives and peaceful co-existence of the people. DCP Kyari is the head of Intelligent Response Team of the Nigeria Police.
Mr. Gbajabiamila said the honour was to encourage the gallant officers and men of the Nigeria Police as well as other security officers and public officials to serve the nation.
He said; “I commended you for your role in law enforcement and commitment to preserving the lives and the peaceful co-existence of the Nigerian people.
”The House in its wisdom deems it worthy to honour you (DCP Kyari) and your team for your selfless service where you put your lives on the line with commitment and extraordinary performance.
”The honour for Abba Kyari and his team of officers is in recognition of their track record of excellence over the years…And by honouring Kyari is honouring the team that works with him as it often said a tree cannot make a forest and letting Nigerians know that despite the not-too-good image of the police force, there are exemplary individuals worthy of commendation.”
The Chief Whip of the House, Mohammed Monguno commended the excellent nature of DCP Kyari who has shone a bright and highly positive light on the image of the Nigeria Police Force and the indigenes of Northeastern Nigeria.
He recollected DCP Kyari’s efforts in destabilising the Boko haram insurgents who were threatening to grind all socio-economic activities of Borno State to a halt.
“I commend you the Speaker, the body of Principal Officers and in effect, the House of Representatives for recognising the strides of DCP Abba Kyari and other well-deserving Nigerians,” Monguno stated.
Members who commended the sacrifice of the officer and his team used the opportunity to push for more funds for the operations of the Nigeria police, to ensure better performance of the police that would translate into better maintenance of peace and order.
