Akwa ibom: The leadership of the Ibibio Traditional Council in Akwa Ibom has declared its support for Senate President Godswill Akpabio and President Bola Tinubu. The council made this declaration during a visit from Akpabio and his entourage, which included members of the National Assembly, at the Nsit Ubium Palace of the Oku Ibom Ibibio, Ntenyin Solomon Etuk.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the royal father expressed their pride in Akpabio, describing him as a well-known son whose achievements in the senate are commendable. The traditional ruler, Ntenyin Solomon Etuk, emphasized their happiness in receiving Akpabio, stating, “This is our son and we, as a people, are very happy to receive you in this palace. We know what you can do and we are very proud of your achievements as the senate president.” He further noted the importance of Akpabio’s presence, acknowledging that knowing him affirms their identity and connection.
The traditional ruler also appealed to Akpabio to fulfill the longstanding dream of establishing a seaport in Akwa Ibom. He expressed gratitude towards the senators for their legislative efforts, particularly highlighting the recent bill addressing the defilement of minors and its legal implications.
Earlier during the visit, Akpabio expressed his gratitude to the royal fathers for their warm reception despite the impromptu nature of the visit. He praised Ntenyin as a peace-loving leader, stating, “I am very happy to be here and I thank you my fathers for this grand reception for me and my entourage, even at a very short notice.” Akpabio acknowledged the peaceful environment fostered by the traditional leader and extended his greetings to Governor Umo Eno, recognizing him as another exemplary leader dedicated to peace.
