Ilorin: Mrs. Bosede Fagbile, the newly inaugurated Chairman of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Ilorin District Society, has urged members to uphold professional standards of accuracy and integrity. Fagbile emphasized the importance of these values at her investiture as the 16th Chairman of ICAN Ilorin and District Society.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Fagbile stated that these values are fundamental to the accounting profession, asserting that ICAN members can maintain the trust and respect of society by adhering to them. She acknowledged the leadership challenge she faces and expressed her commitment to advancing the district and institute over the next year. Fagbile intends to build upon the foundation laid by her predecessors, with a focus on constructing a suitable secretariat for the district and addressing accommodation issues faced by the NDDC/ICAN Study Centre.
Fagbile also highlighted the district’s dedication to promoting accounting to younger generations through ICAN’s Catch Them Young Initiative. Her goal is to increase awareness and interest in the field within secondary and tertiary institutions across the state.
Meanwhile, Mr. Abdulrasheed Abdullahi, Chairman of the Investiture Committee, described the event as a celebration of leadership, legacy, and vision. He expressed confidence in Fagbile’s purpose-driven leadership and its impact on the district society and wider professional community.
The immediate past chairman, Alhaji Tesleem Tewogbola, expressed confidence in the new executive members, recognizing Fagbile’s experience and leadership skills as assets to the district’s growth and impact.
Prof. Kayode Olatoke, represented by James David, emphasized the profession’s crucial role in the ethical operations of public and private sectors. He noted that ICAN members are moral custodians of the nation’s economic integrity, and expressed a need for ethical and forward-thinking professionals like Fagbile and her team to lead and inspire the next generation.
