Abuja: The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has uncovered another fraudulent federal agency operating within the country. ICPC Spokesperson, John Odey, announced this development in a statement on Friday in Abuja.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the ICPC Chairman, Musa Aliyu, revealed this discovery while addressing newsmen at the State House after briefing President Bola Tinubu. The chairman explained that the new finding is part of ongoing investigations into the fake Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), which was allegedly promoted by Adeniyi Matthew.
The fake agency has been identified as the ‘National Brands Development and Made in Nigeria Special Project Office.’ It is reportedly promoted by Mr. George Nwabueze, who is suspected of having active collaboration with senior public servants within the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF).
The ICPC Chairman stated that Mr. George Nwabueze operates under multiple aliases, including Prince George Buch Nwabueze, George Nathan Nwabueze, Hon. George Buchi Nwabueze, and George Nwabueze. Following his briefing, President Tinubu ordered the arrest of Mr. George Buchi Nwabueze and the immediate suspension of three permanent secretaries in the OSGF.
The suspended officials are MS Danjuma, Nandungu Gagare, and Richard Pheelangwa. The ICPC emphasized its commitment to upholding the rule of law and following due process in its anti-corruption efforts.
