Otuocha (Anambra East LGA)-The Traditional Ruler of Aguleri, Igwe Micheal Idigo has lamented over a set back suffered by the state’s economy as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic earlier last year.
“I want to thank God that Aguleri people were largely protected during the period,” Igwe Idigo observed, attributing it intervention by providence.
Igwe Idigo, then, declared the celebration: “Ovala Amala Chineke’’ otherwise a festival covered by the Grace of God.
The natural ruler made the lamentation during his 121 Ovala Festival of Aguleri at Amaigwe Square, Aguleri.
Igwe Idigo commended Gov. Willie Obiano for his many achievements including the ongoing construction of a City Airport at Umueri, the completion of the 10,000 capacity International Conference Centre at Awka as well as a strong security architecture installed in the state.
Member representing Anambra East and West Federal Constituency, Mr Chinedu Obidigwe said that Aguleri culture was worth worth preserving for emulation by others in future.
He pleaded that as years passes by that it would be better to maintain the culture.
A former Senator, representing Anambra Central, Sen. Victor Umeh prayed to God to protect Igwe Idigo and the people of Aguleri.
The Sports Commission Chairman, Chief Tony Oli, the chairman of the 121 Ovala festival thanked the people of Aguleri for making the Ovala festival a success that it had been pleading that the community to maintain peace with Igwe Idigo.
The festival attracted many dignitaries including Mr Primus Odili, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, who was conferred with chieftaincy title of Nkpologwu Okosisi Aguleri. The former National Chairman of the All Progressive Grant Alliance (APGA), Victor Oye was conferred a title of Akaamalu Aguleri.
