Ikosi-isheri: Mrs. Samiat Bada, Chairman of Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA), has pledged to transform the community into a model of effective grassroots governance. Bada made this commitment during a ceremony themed ‘Renewed Hope at the Grassroots’, marking her first 100 days in office for her second term.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Bada emphasized her administration’s focus on impactful projects, such as the ‘Monthly Renewed Hope Cash Support Programme’, which offers ?100,000 to 500 residents. She also announced plans to establish a modern fire station, a recreational centre, a low-cost housing scheme, and a new palace for the Onikosi of Ikosi.
Bada stated that all projects align with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and Gov. Sanwo-Olu’s T.H.E.M.E.S Plus policy, which promote inclusion, technology, and mobility. She also vowed to transform the Mile 12 Market into a modern commercial hub.
She assured that the redevelopment of Mile 12 Market would include cold storage, warehouse space, and improved waste management systems. The introduction of mini waste-collection trucks, called ‘Keke Mayoress’, is also planned to enhance cleanliness and sustainability.
Bada highlighted that the Mile 12 Market redevelopment complements other ongoing works in the LCDA, such as road rehabilitation in Olowora, Ikosi, and Unilag Estate. She explained that these projects were funded through statutory allocations from the Federal and Lagos State governments.
Additionally, Bada mentioned the 105-bedded Sen. Oluremi Tinubu Primary Healthcare Centre in Ikosi and new roads linking communities and markets, which symbolize her government’s commitment to local development. She expressed gratitude to residents, traditional rulers, and council staff for their support.
Alhaji Ganiyu Shittu, Chairman of Mile 12 Traders Association, commended Bada for her responsiveness and urged continuous collaboration with traders. Rev. Johnson Omotosho, Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ikosi-Isheri Chapter, and Alhaji Musbau Shittu, Chairman of the League of Imams, also praised Bada for her leadership and focus on community needs.
