Immunisation officers urged to ensure coverage of all areas

Ogidi (Idemili North LGA)-A one-day campaign on yellow fever and meningitis has been organised for upcoming immunisation exercise in Idemili North Local Government Area (LGA).

The exercise, which took place at Idemili North Secretariat, Ogidi attracted immunisation officers selected from the towns in the LGA.

Senior Health Officer in the LG, Mrs Mercy Okunwa said the immunisation exercise, which was of two folds were targeted at infants and adults.

She said infants between 9 to 11 months and those between one nd 44 years were to receive the yellow fever vaccine.

Mrs Okunwa also said children between the ages of 12 to 59 months would receive immunisation for meningitis.

She explained that the tasks before the immunisation officers were enormous, considering the two fold nature of the exercise.

“I urge you to ensure adequate and effective coverage of the areas in your respective schedules, since the success and failure of the exercise will depend on field officers.

“Apply diligence and caution, more because you will be handling both children and adults alike.’’

She highlighted the importance of accurate record-keeping and documentation as a means of ensuring smooth flow.

Social Mobilisation Officer, Idemili North LGA, Mrs Chizoba Igboekweze said adequate sensitisation was necessary to ensure that people turn out en masse for the exercise.
