Abuja: The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results for underage candidates for viewing. This release, however, does not automatically qualify these candidates for admission, as only those meeting specific requirements will be considered.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, JAMB’s Public Communication Adviser, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, clarified that an underage candidate for the 2026 admission exercise is defined as anyone who will be less than 16 years old by September 30, 2026. The results are intended to inform candidates and their guardians of their performance and cannot be used for official purposes unless the candidates meet the criteria for exceptionally performing underage candidates.
To check their results, candidates are instructed to send ‘RESULT’ to 55019 or 66019 using the SIM card registered for the UTME. Benjamin emphasized that the Board would only admit underage candidates who demonstrate exceptional academic maturity and ability, with a minimum UTME score of 320 and 80% performance in relevant Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination subjects.
The rigorous assessment process for these candidates includes meeting the Post-UTME requirements of their chosen institutions and undergoing a final expert assessment. The Board will also wait for the release of National Examinations Council (NECO) results before finalizing the admission process.
Benjamin urged all to avoid individuals claiming they can secure admission outside the prescribed process, reiterating that UTME participation and result release do not guarantee admission. He assured that the process remains transparent and merit-based, committed to maintaining the integrity of the admission process.
