Lafia:The Jennifer Etuh Foundation (JEF) has extended assistance to approximately 1,000 widows in Nasarawa State by providing cash, wrappers, and food items to help alleviate their hardships.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, this initiative was announced by Mr. Joe Otu, the Programme Manager of JEF, during a widows’ outreach event held at the Peace House Tent. The outreach is part of the foundation’s efforts to support vulnerable women and commemorate the first anniversary of the deaths of Mr. Josiah Musa and Mr. Alfred Arome, two committed members of the foundation’s team who passed away in 2025.
Mr. Otu explained that the decision to expand activities to Nasarawa State was made in honor of the deceased, who had actively participated in the foundation’s evangelical and medical outreaches. The widows’ outreach marks the beginning of the foundation’s initiatives in the state, which will be followed by a five-day free medical outreach.
The foundation’s focus includes supporting women and the girl-child in areas such as education, healthcare, and economic empowerment. It operates six hospitals across Nigeria’s geopolitical zones, providing healthcare services to underserved communities. The widows benefiting from this initiative were selected from various communities and local government areas within Nasarawa State.
The upcoming free medical outreach will be conducted at the Specialist Hospital in Akwanga. Nearly 80 medical volunteers are expected to offer general and specialized medical services, including surgeries, dental services, and eye care, with a focus on conditions like cataracts and fibroids. Collaborating with Pro-Health International, Peace House Mission, and the Nasarawa Government, the foundation aims to assist between 3,000 and 3,500 people.
During the event, Pastor Elisha Kure encouraged the widows to maintain their faith and trust in God, citing Psalm 685, which describes God as a defender of widows. Mrs. Rita Arome, widow of one of the deceased team members, expressed happiness that the foundation’s efforts honored her husband and Musa’s service, bringing relief to the widows.
Mrs. Patience Dauda-Osah, a beneficiary, expressed her gratitude, noting that the foundation’s support reassured widows that they are not forgotten and prayed for the foundation’s continued strength and expansion of its humanitarian activities.
