Kaduna approves 15bn for gratuity and death benefits

Kaduna state government commences payment of gratuity and death benefit for both State and Local government retirees.

Presenting the cheques to the beneficiaries at the Government House Kaduna, Northwest Nigeria, Governor Nasiru El-Rufa’i represented by his deputy, Barnabas Bala Bantex charged the beneficiaries to utilise the monies judiciously.

He assured that all retired civil servants in the state will be compensated as at when due, adding that the government took its time to verify genuine civil servants and pensioners.

The State Commissioner of Finance, Suleiman Abdu Kwari revealed that over fifteen billion naira was approved for the payment, out of which 1bn was approved for the first phase of the payment while the remaining payment would be paid subsequently.

The Executive Secretary, Kaduna State Pension Bureau, Mr Dan Ndackson, said the payment is meant to capture 2012 Local Government and 2014 State Government retires and death benefit respectively.

Some of the beneficiaries expressed delight at the gesture and also assured to make good use of the fund.
