Kaduna Government moves to develop markets, neighbourhood centres

Kaduna State Government has signed a Development Lease Agreement DLA with Developers of Markets and Neighbourhood centres in the State.

The lease is a State Government’s urban renewal initiative in partnership with investors to re-develop and build markets and neighbourhood centres in the state with the aim of modernizing markets, improve shopping experience and safety of residents.

While signing the agreement at the Government House in Kaduna, Northwest Nigeria, Governor El-Rufai explained that, the Kaduna Investment Promotion Agency (KADIPA) has been working closely with the developers in the past few months which has culminated to this DLA signing event.

The Governor stated that a total of 14 neighbourhood centres and 16 markets will be developed across Kaduna, Kafanchan and Zaria.

This Project is expected to generate about N60billion worth of Investments and create thousands of jobs in the state, he stressed.

He emphasised that the urban renewal process is a state initiative that seeks to use private sectors as it drivers to improve the economy of the state.

The initiative is expected to boost the development of small scale businesses and also enable small scale business owners to own shops with ease by putting in place an instalment plan that will spread over a period of 20 years.
