Kaduna: Governor Uba Sani has approved a new minimum wage of N72,000 for Kaduna State civil servants, with effect from November 2024, in line with his administration’s commitment to advancing workers’ interests.
According to Voice of Nigeria, a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Malam Ibraheem Musa, said the decision is in line with the ‘advancement of the interests of workers and improvement in the living conditions of the poor, vulnerable, and underserved in Kaduna State.’ The statement highlighted that this decision aligns with Governor Uba Sani’s lifelong commitment to promoting and protecting workers’ rights, enhancing their welfare, and caring for the poor and weak.
The statement further revealed that Governor Uba Sani is set to launch a Free Transportation Scheme for civil servants with the release of one hundred CNG buses. These buses will provide transportation for civil servants to and from work, aiming to alleviate the suffering of workers and enhance their productivity. A Joint Manag
ement Committee, consisting of representatives from organized labor (NLC and TUC) and the State Government, will be established to oversee the Free Transportation Scheme for civil servants.
Governor Sani also assured that the Kaduna State Government will continue to develop and implement policies and measures to bring relief to the people. He emphasized the commitment to transforming the lives of the less privileged and expressed his vision of making Kaduna State a model for social welfare interventions, with the continued support of its citizens.
