Kano: The Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KSCHMA) and the Integrated Child Survival Advocacy at the Last-Mile (ICSA) have reaffirmed commitments to improving child survival and primary healthcare delivery.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the Executive Secretary of KSCHMA, Dr. Rahila Aliyu-Muktar, emphasized the agency’s dedication to expanding access to affordable and quality healthcare services through innovative health financing and inclusive coverage for vulnerable groups. This statement came during an advocacy visit by the ICSA delegation to the agency in Kano.
Aliyu-Muktar highlighted the importance of collaboration with development partners and advocacy groups in strengthening healthcare delivery, accountability, and community participation. She noted that partnerships are vital for achieving Universal Health Coverage and improving health outcomes, especially for women and children in the state.
Earlier, Dayyabu Muhammad, the ICSA State Team Lead, expressed the visit’s aim to strengthen collaboration for equitable access to quality primary healthcare services, particularly at the grassroots level. Muhammad explained that ICSA’s advocacy model focuses on community engagement, accountability, and evidence-based policy dialogue.
He underscored the necessity of sustained investment in primary healthcare systems, improved budgetary allocation, timely fund release, and stronger oversight at both state and Local Government Area levels. ICSA’s interventions are designed to amplify community voices through field-based evidence and stakeholder engagement to ensure that policy decisions address real service delivery challenges.
Muhammad also emphasized the importance of aligning advocacy efforts with government priorities to achieve sustainable impacts in maternal, newborn, and child healthcare. Both organizations agreed to identify practical collaboration areas, particularly in strengthening last-mile advocacy, integrating communication strategies, and supporting ongoing reforms in the primary healthcare sector.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the engagement is expected to enhance multi-sectoral collaboration in addressing healthcare challenges and improving the well-being of residents in Kano State.
