Abuja: Mr. William Gitau, Kenya’s Minister of Information, Communications and Digital Economy, has confirmed his attendance at the 2026 World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) and the 37th African Public Relations Association (APRA) Conference.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Gitau confirmed his attendance when he received a delegation from Nigeria, led by the President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Dr. Ike Neliaku, in Nairobi. This announcement was made public in a statement issued by NIPR’s Director of Public Relations, Mr. Stanley Ogadigo, on Thursday in Abuja.
Gitau described the WPRF as an African project that required a continental approach and collaborative efforts to deliver. He emphasized Kenya’s commitment to fully participate in the global event scheduled to hold from November 15 to November 21, 2026, in Abuja. “Kenya will not be left behind in initiatives that will promote and project Africa as a continent with great potentials. I can tell you for sure, Kenya has interest to participate,” Gitau stated.
Dr. Ike Neliaku briefed Gitau on some of the initiatives and programmes planned to make the 2026 WPRF unique. These include the inauguration of the first University of Public Relations and Leadership in the world, the Nigeria Jollof Rice Festival, the Akara Festival, and seven-hour tailoring services for foreign guests, among others. Neliaku also presented a letter of invitation from the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris.
He further explained that Idris would host the African Ministers of Information Roundtable for his counterparts from other African countries. The roundtable aims to provide lasting solutions to challenges of information management and responsible communication on the continent.
