Kwara expends N2.8m on community micro projects

The Kwara State Government has so far expended two point eight million naira on community micro projects across the state.

This is the World Bank Additional Financing of part of community and social development projects to enable government provide necessary infrastructural facilities for rural communities across the state.

The newly appointed Board Chairman of Kwara State Community and Social Development Agency (KWCSDA), Mr Salihu, Ayinla Alamoyo, disclosed this at the just concluded cheque Presentation ceremony to another set of twenty communities.

Mr Alamoyo, who gave kudos to Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed for his government's contribution of the mandatory fifty million Naira to ensure the continuity of the project, charged the benefitting communities to expend the money judiciously on their choice projects, for the benefit of their communities.

While handling over cheques to the beneficiaries, Mr Alamoyo urged them to reciprocate the kind gesture of Governor Ahmed by ensuring that the project is completed on time and put to use.

In his opening remarks, the Acting General Manager, Kwara State Community and Social Development Agency, Mr Yahaya Ahmed disclosed that since the commencement of Additional Financing to date, government had intervened in one hundred and twenty-three rural communities through Kwara State Community and Social Development Agency, with one hundred and forty-one community micro projects funded in the sectors of water, electricity, education and health.

Mr Ahmed also explained that, the sum of four point four million Naira were disbursed to twenty communities as first tranche of the total amount, at the just concluded Cheque/Presentation/ Community Project Launch.

Speaking at the occasion, Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Doctor Ali Ahmad, represented by former State Commissioner for Health, Mr Suleiman Atolagbe Alege, was appreciative of Kwara State Government under the leadership of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed, for keying into the projects to enable the people at the grass root to benefit.

Also speaking at the event, the Secretary to Kwara State Government, Mr Isiaka Sola Gold who was represented by the State Commissioner for Planning and Economic Development, Mr Wasiu Odewale appealed to the benefiting communities to expend the money judiciously.

Expressing appreciation to the State Government for the kind gesture to the poor, the Emir of Ilorin, Mr Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, represented by Usbandawaki of Pakata, Mr Mahamud Baba Ubandawaki assured that the communities would be just, fair and transparent in the implementation of their various projects, by sticking to the specification of the Agency.
