Kwara moves to contain suspected Cholera cases

The Kwara State Government says it has put in place measures to contain the spread of suspected Cholera in parts of Ilorin, the state capital.

The Secretary to the State Government, Isiaka Gold said this on Friday, during an on the spot assessment of primary health care centers, cottage hospitals and the General Hospital, Ilorin.

Gold, who led the government’s delegation to assess the situation, said they had deployed resources to ensure that cholera did not spread to other parts of the state.

The Secretary to the State Government said the government had also begun the sensitization of the public on the need for personal hygiene and environmental sanitation.

Mr Gold announced that the government had supported hospitals with necessary drugs to contain the disease.

The State Commissioner for Health, Atolagbe Alege said the Ministry had deployed both human and material resources needed to ensure the cases are localized and treated.
