Abuja: The Eredo Local Council of Lagos State has successfully upgraded 168 roads and constructed eight solar-powered boreholes across various communities, enhancing infrastructure and living standards for its residents. The announcement was made by the Chairman, Mr. Monsuru Akinloye, during an interview at Eredo-Epe.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the projects aim to improve the quality of life for the local populace. Mr. Akinloye highlighted the beneficiary communities, which include Odo-Egiri, Ilara, Ibonwon, Odogbawojo, Imokun, and Odomola. The road upgrades are expected to facilitate smoother vehicular movement and bolster economic growth by connecting rural areas more effectively.
The council has completed construction on four major roads located at Adebowale, Odogbawojo, Imokun, and Odo-Egiri. These roads serve as crucial links to the inner communities, according to Mr. Akinloye. Additionally, the council has installed solar-powered boreholes in strategic locations, such as Ibonwon Market, Ilara Town Hall, and Odogbawojo Community Centre, to ensure a clean water supply.
Furthermore, the council has constructed 21 blocks of classrooms across several primary schools, including UPE Primary School, AUD Primary School, and Ansar-Ud-Deen Primary School, aiming to improve educational facilities in the region.
Mr. Akinloye emphasized the importance of ongoing support from the residents through timely payment of taxes and levies, which are critical for funding such projects. He also assured that his administration would focus more on youth empowerment, healthcare, and environmental management in the year 2026, with continued support from the Lagos State Government.
