Post: Local Government Leaders in Lagos Praise President Tinubu’s Economic Reforms

Lagos:The chairmen of Mushin and Alimosho local governments have commended President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms, highlighting their potential to drive sustainable growth in Nigeria despite current challenges.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, Mr. Haruna Aruwe of Mushin and Mr. Johnson Akinpelu of Alimosho expressed their support in Independence Day statements, noting that the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda is strengthening Nigeria’s economic foundation. Aruwe emphasized that improved federal revenue generation has resulted in higher statutory allocations, enhancing the capacity of subnational governments to provide essential infrastructure and services.

Aruwe also praised the government’s investments in sectors such as roads, rail, power, housing, and digital infrastructure, which aim to boost commerce and connectivity. He highlighted the significance of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) in widening access to higher education and developing youth skills. Furthermore, he acknowledged the reforms in the energy sector, aimed at boosting domestic refining capacity and attracting investment into oil and gas, thus strengthening energy security.

He noted the positive impact of these initiatives on communities like Mushin and pledged ongoing collaboration with federal and state governments. However, he acknowledged challenges such as the cost of living and infrastructure deficits, calling for coordinated governmental intervention.

Akinpelu acknowledged the difficulties of structural reforms but emphasized their potential long-term benefits. He praised Tinubu’s courage in confronting national challenges and urged Nigerians to assess the administration’s policies and achievements ahead of the 2027 presidential election. He encouraged informed and thoughtful consideration of Nigeria’s future.
