Mamelodi Sundowns Dominate Remo Stars FC with 5-1 Victory in Abeokuta


Abeokuta: Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa decisively defeated Remo Stars FC 5-1 in the first leg of the second round of the CAF Champions League at the MKO Abiola Sports Complex, Abeokuta.



According to News Agency of Nigeria, the South African team took control from the beginning of the match, with goalkeeper and captain Ronwen Williams playing a pivotal role. The first half concluded with Mamelodi Sundowns leading 2-0, thanks to goals by Tashreeq Matthews in the 11th minute and Peter Shalulile in the 41st minute.



The second half saw a continuation of Mamelodi Sundowns’ dominance, resulting in a third goal by Miguel Reisinho in the 60th minute. Substitutes Arthur De Oliveira and Katlego Ntsabeleng further added to the scoreline, netting the fourth and fifth goals in the 74th and 84th minutes, respectively.



Remo Stars’ substitute, Samson Olasupo, managed to score a consolation goal from outside the 18-yard box in the 76th minute. The match was witnessed by a large and enthusiastic crowd. Remo Stars now face a challenging task as they prepare for the return leg in Pretoria on October 26.
