Abudu Orhionmwon Local Government council yesterday rounded-off a 2-Day Training on Men-A (Meningitis) for the 70 health workers that cuts across the 35 health centres in the locality.
The training which is a step down training on Meningitis vaccine, took place in the 18 LGAs, and it serves as a follow-up to the ‘train the trainers’ training held recently in Benin city by the Edo state government.
Speaking on the sideline of the event, a trainer, Mr Edokpolor Fredrick said the training was to equip the health workers on how best to administer the vaccine at their various health facilities.
Mr. Edokpolor who is a disease surveillance officer at the council, added that, the participants are expected to do advocacy visits to community heads, schools, and churches.
According to Edokpolor, the meningitis vaccine is for children within the age bracket of 9-Months to 15 years, and there is expected to be a formal flag-off in the local government area to further sensitize the people.
