Minister Donates Relief Materials to Adamawa Flood Victims


Adamawa: The Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Mukhtar Maiha, has condoled with the government and people of Adamawa State over the recent flood disaster that claimed 29 lives, submerged farmlands, and destroyed houses. Maiha, who hails from the state, personally delivered a condolence letter on behalf of the management and staff of his ministry, commending the proactive measures taken by the state government to address the flooding.



According to Voice of Nigeria, the minister urged governments at all levels to develop lasting solutions to the perennial flooding that occurs yearly, assuring that his ministry stands with the state in this moment of grief. The minister also presented relief materials to victims of the disaster, describing the visit as an act of solidarity and compassion.



‘Your Excellency, we pray to the Almighty, by His infinite mercy, to repose the souls of the departed, heal the injured, and restore the property and livelihoods of those affected,’ he said.



Earlier, the state Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, expressed gratitude to the minister and his entourage for identifying with the victims, whom she described as his family members. Farauta commended the resilience of the people in the face of the devastating flood and reiterated the government’s commitment to providing relief support to alleviate their suffering. She added that the impact of the disaster was reduced through the efforts of stakeholders and assured that the government would remain steadfast in delivering humanitarian intervention.
