OMUTHIYA – Alleta Eises, the Oshikoto regional director for the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture (MoEAC), urged learners to enroll at Vocational Training Centres (VTCs) during a fundraising gala dinner held on Saturday at Omuthiya Vocational Training Centre (OMVTC).
According to a new release by Namibia Press Agency, Eises emphasized that vocational training is more practical and prepares students for self-employment, unlike conventional education.
Eises noted that vocational training prepares students to be “masters of their craft” rather than simply seeking employment. She cited examples of students marching to the Prime Minister’s office seeking employment, stating that VTC graduates are more likely to create their own employment opportunities. The OMVTC gala dinner raised a total of N.dollar 79,325 for purchasing workshop equipment and land. The center currently has 70 students and offers various vocational training programs such as auto mechanics, welding and metal fabrication, hospitality and tourism, and office administration.
