Abuja: Morocco’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Moha Tagma, has highlighted the strong bilateral ties between Nigeria and Morocco, emphasizing their shared vision for Africa’s peace and prosperity. He made these remarks during an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at a reception in Abuja commemorating the Throne Day of the Kingdom of Morocco.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Tagma underscored the long-standing diplomatic relationship between the two nations, noting their commitment to initiatives aimed at uniting and prospering the African continent. He pointed out that Morocco’s diplomacy on the international stage has garnered trust and respect, further solidifying the strategic partnership with Nigeria.
Tagma highlighted key collaborative projects between the two countries, such as the ambitious Nigeria-Morocco Gas Pipeline project. This extensive pipeline, which stretches over 6,000 km and connects 13 West African countries, is expected to enhance energy security, foster integration, and drive development across Africa. He also mentioned Morocco’s investment in Nigeria’s agriculture sector, particularly the OCP Group’s $1.5 billion investment in a new ammonia and fertilizer plant in Akwa Ibom state.
The ambassador also spoke about Morocco’s contribution to Africa’s connectivity with the world, noting that Royal Air Maroc, the national airline, connects 23 African capitals and cities, including Abuja and Lagos, to Casablanca with direct flights.
Earlier in the event, Tagma explained the significance of Throne Day, describing it as a day of national unity and reflection on Morocco’s achievements under the leadership of King Mohammed VI. He remarked on the impressive progress made across various sectors of the economy, attributing it to the king’s leadership.
The event was attended by a diverse group of stakeholders, including government officials, industry leaders from both the private and public sectors, and members of the diplomatic community.
